Obligo is on a mission to build trust between landlords and renters through financial technology that supports the lifecycle of the landlord-tenant relationship.

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our team and take part in our high-energy TLV beach-side office culture.

Join our team and lead the charge in building the most powerful model ever devised to predict landlord-renter risk. Your expertise will be critical in driving success and ensuring the stability of our platform in the rapidly evolving financial landscape.

As a Data Scientist you will:

  • End-to-end ownership of Obligo's renter risk model - monitoring the success of existing models (forecast vs actuals) while building new innovative ones (feature engineering, algorithm selection, deployment, reporting financial data)
  • End-to-end ownership of Obligo's landlord risk model - monitoring landlord behavior such as average deposit deductions rates, lease break rates, and lease renewal rates. The model will alert Obligo’s customer success team to intervene in cases of abusive landlords.
  • Utilize statistical techniques to tame error margins and flag anomalies in real-world, limited-time, uncertain measurements such the turnover rate of renters in a small building, the seasonality of the rental market, or the average deposit deduction.
  • Collaborating with the finance department, you will interpret your model outputs into financial KPIs that can be reported on and forecasted. Chief among these: how much money should be set aside for expected losses?
  • Collaborating with the product and R&D departments to integrate your models into our production systems, guiding the evolution of our renter qualification process, pricing engine and more.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of the models to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data science and risk management to continuously improve the model and methodologies.
  • Provide technical leadership in data science initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist in the fintech or financial industry, with a strong track record in building risk models.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with data manipulation and visualization libraries.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and their application to risk assessment and prediction.
  • Previous experience working with large datasets, data preprocessing, and feature engineering.
  • Knowledge of financial products, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements in the fintech sector is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive and self-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
