About the team
Stripe builds economic infrastructure for the internet. We’re moving beyond payments and “up the stack” to help our users run their businesses more effectively. Issuing is developing new APIs to empower businesses to launch physical and virtual card programs. We aim to help businesses deploy novel use cases that rely on fully programmable payment instruments.
What you’ll do
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Issuing Authorizations Engineering team. You’ll be responsible for expanding and developing the team. You’ll drive pillar vision and roadmap. You’ll lead our coordination with product teams, operations teams, and other engineering teams at Stripe. We’re looking for a leader with a strong background in building scalable products. We need someone who is comfortable in a fast-moving environment with lots of moving pieces.
Responsibilities
- Be actively involved in strategic direction, product decisions, roadmap shaping for an emerging business
- Iterate rapidly on features, tooling, and processes as we launch first versions of new products
- Driving technical direction to work through tech stack evolutions
- Work closely with our users and financial partners on a daily basis
- Design, build, and maintain APIs, user-facing experiences, services, and systems
- Make and adapt prioritization and staffing decisions as the team, business, and user demands progress.
- Engineer solutions across systems such as core money-movement infrastructure, data pipelines, banking systems, and more
- Grow, develop, recruit, and hire for an amazing team of engineers

Minimum requirements
- 5+ years of engineering management experience
- 10+ years of overall software development experience
- Experience building new, diverse teams to tackle challenging technical problems
- Experience managing senior talent
- Experience working in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
The annual US base salary range for this role is $224,300 - $336,500. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
